The Scout and Guide movement is a global youth organization that aims to empower young people with skills, values, and leadership abilities to become active citizens and create positive change in their communities.
Scouting
Scouting is a movement for boys and girls aged 6-25, founded by Lord Robert Baden-Powell in 1907. The Scout movement is based on the principles of:
- Duty to God and Country
- Duty to Others
- Duty to Self
Scouts participate in various activities, such as:
- Camping and outdoor adventures
- Community service and volunteer work
- Leadership and teamwork development
- Skills training (e.g., first aid, cooking, navigation)
Guiding
Guiding is a movement for girls and young women aged 5-25, founded by Lord Robert Baden-Powell’s sister, Agnes Baden-Powell, in 1910. The Guide movement is based on the same principles as Scouting.
Guides participate in similar activities as Scouts, with a focus on:
- Empowering girls and young women
- Developing leadership and life skills
- Building confidence and self-esteem
- Encouraging community service and volunteer work
