Mr. R. Somasundaram
An esteemed educator, mentor, guide, and Rotarian, he was born in Coimbatore. He completed his schooling at Sri Ramakrishna Vidhyalaya in Periyanaickenpalayam and graduated with a B. Sc. Computer Science from Kongunadu College of Arts and Science.
Hailing from a family involved in business, he began his career as a Financier.
Mr. Somasundaram is currently the Correspondent of Sri Vinayaga Vidhyalaya School, Karamadai. The school was established with the noble intention of nurturing future citizens and is dedicated to the memory of the late Thiru N.K. Rangasamy, a charismatic personality. The vision of starting the school was initially a concept in his father’s mind but has fully blossomed under Mr. Somasundaram’s leadership. He is also the Chairperson of the N.K.R Rani Mahal Trust.
Inspired by his father’s ideals, Mr. Somasundaram has a deep passion for empowering children through education. His holistic approach aims to touch and inspire the young souls, shaping them into better individuals – not only for a lifetime but also as seeds for future generations. He has created an environment that is beautiful, serene, and pious, complete with all the necessary facilities. Introduces changes to the atmosphere to ensure that students enjoys their lessons and study with pleasure. This environment aligns with the institution’s vision and mission of providing quality education, promoting an inclusive and nurturing atmosphere, and fostering collaborative partnerships among students, teachers, parents, and the community.
The preamble of SVVS’s “Disciplinary Card” was crafted by him, emphasizing the importance of instilling self-discipline in children from an early age. He believes this practice cultivates the development of good character and fosters positive human qualities as they grow. Reflecting his philosophy, Mr. Somasundaram often reminds others, “Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.”
In addition to his educational endeavors, Mr. Somasundaram extends his service to society through various roles. He is the President of the Bharath Scouts and Guides, Kongumandalam, and has served as the Treasurer of the Association of Management of Private Schools (AMPS). He has been actively involved with the Rotary Club, serving as Secretary and currently as President of Rotary Club, Karamadai. Under his leadership, numerous service-oriented activities have been conducted, including health and eye camps, rallies promoting anti-tobacco and environmental conservation, and a plantation drive planting 2,000 saplings in and around Karamadai.
Mr. Somasundaram has a deep interest in agriculture and is an ardent devotee of Swami Vivekananda and Mahakavi Subramania Bharathiyar. He is inspired by Subramania Bharathi’s philosophy and follows the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. His guiding principles are simplicity, hard work, dynamism, and service – ideals that are reflected in his work and community engagement.
As an orator and conservationist, Mr. Somasundaram imparts traditional values through his speeches at schools and colleges, emphasizing their importance in shaping children into responsible citizens.
He possesses a clear vision, a strong sense of purpose, and is a self-driven leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Mr.Somasundaram is also the recipient of numerous awards including the recent Educational Technology Award received by the school for outstanding management, where he serves as chairman.
